"We're called the, 'VAMPS' 'cause we're asleep during daytime."
VAMPS was formed by HYDE (vocalist/L'Arc~en~Ciel) and K.A.Z (guitarist/Oblivion Dust) in early spring 2008. Although, HYDE and K.A.Z have actually been working together since 2003. For HYDE's 3rd solo album, "FAITH," K.A.Z co-produced all the songs on the album and wrote five songs off the album, including the hit single, "SEASON'S CALL." In the Summer of 2006, K.A.Z joined HYDE as the lead guitarist for his 2006 "FAITH Tour," which included dates in the United States. VAMPS have just successfully completed their first U.S. tour, which included shows on both the east coast and west coast. To date, VAMPS have released four singles: "LOVE ADDICT," "I Gotta Kick Start Now," "EVANESCENT," and "Sweet Dreams." They have also released their self-titled debut album, "VAMPS," which is also available on iTunes (just like their singles).
The year 2010 was the year of VAMPS, as they released their highly-anticipated second album, "BEAST" and embarked on their first world tour, which included shows in the United States, Chile, China, Spain, and France. They united fans of different races and cultures, thus defining what it means for music to transcend the language barriers. Although both HYDE and K.A.Z are still involved with their respective bands (L'Arc~en~Ciel/Oblivion Dust), their exciting and interesting musical journey continues. As HYDE so eloquently puts it: "We are VAMPS, born today. Will you love us?"
